Ripoff These salespeople sold my 84 year old parents a vacuum cleaner that they are not physically able to use or financially able to afford

I live in a small town in Tennessee. My parents are both elderly, but with kids around closeby to check on them, they remain living by themselves. I went by after work to check on them one day, and lo and behold, there sat a Kirby Vacuum cleaner. My brother pays to have their house cleaned, because my mother is not physically able to even push a vacuum cleaner.

My parents are on a fixed income. They heard a knock at their door, and a man shoved a $3.00 camera into their face (which he said was worth a lot more) and said they had won a free gift just by letting them come into their home and cleaning their carpet. My mother kept telling them they couldn't afford it, but of course, they Never take no for an answer. So my mother wrote a check for $500 for a downpayment and off they went with her check. My sister called the company the next day and told them to come and get the vacuum cleaner and that we would stop payment on the check.

The sales people then called my mother and told her the salesperson would lose her job and that the company was going to sue my mother's children for calling and harassing them. Well, to make this story short, my mother doesn't want anyone bothering her kids, so she told us to pay the check and she would keep the vacuum. She didn't want her kids hurt. So the Kirby people (who apparently live without guilt) won again.

I would call this high pressure sales at its best. But caring old people should be against the law. I hope these people enjoy spending my parents money. Then maybe they can crawl back under the rock where they came from.
