Unauthorized Charges

I had 3 charges on my credit card bill from this company, which I had never heard of, so I did some digging to find out how they had obtained my information. I contacted the company and spoke to a man by the name of Dave Chasen and found out how it is these charges came about. It turns out that they had been "authorized" via an online order I had placed through Fredericks of Hollywood. Apparently, when I was placing the order, there was a section where one is asked if one would like to receive 90 days of 3 different subscriptions "free".

I honestly don't remember signing up for anything, but, according to this Dave guy, one has to click "Accept Terms" 2 times in order for a person to even continue on with the order being placed. And, of course, being the typical in-a-hurry American that I am, I neglected to read the "Terms and Conditions" where it states that as soon as your 90 days are up, you are signed up for a 15 month subscription for every magazine you were previously getting for free and are now going to be charged for.

I canceled all of the subscriptions via the Magazine Service Center (just ask to place an order on the automated system and you will be able to talk to a person) but all of this was AFTER I went ahead and canceled my credit card account number, because I was afraid that I might have further unauthorized charges.

So, in the end, I suppose that it is Fredericks of Hollywood that is the main culprit with this TMX company right behind them. They make you sign up for "free" magazines in order to place a regular order and then they go in and screw you on the sly. You can be sure that I will never order anything from Fredericks of Hollywood again.
