Eceived a call from debt collectors stating i owed $975.00to ex landlord for non payment of rent for aug. 2006 (month i moved out.) 4 months prior to eviction for non payment of rent i notified landlord of vermin infestation - rats chewed a baseball sized hole in carpet at stairwell, and under kitchen cabinet in wall. Rent was$650.00 at time of notification, only to be raised to $690.00 afterwards. Landlord had "manager" (her son, dale gabriel) put a live animal trap in my kitchen - for racoons at base of stairwell. 3 weeks later aftewr several complaints and no rats caught a taser trap was brought in which was to be placed on hard flat dry surface was placed on carpeted stairwell at rat hole entrance. A friend of mine was shocked by the thing. I had aclled several environmental health agencies as well as exterminators but because i am a tenant and not owner of building i can't hire ext. Without landlords permission she wanted to handle issue on her own -kept talking about making a beer trap w / a bucket of beer and a string or something. Over the next 3 months, i got rat sized snapper traps, glue traps -which eventually caught 2 baby rats, taser traps, the neighbors complained of rats too, one neighhbor caught a 15 inch rat that would barely fit in a size 8 shoebox. So i had called a community action council in town and they tyuped up a letter to my landlord stating that due to her negligence in the matter i was withholding my rent until the problem was remedied and that she had slandered me in the process - she sent letters to all tenants but me stating that i had packed the rats in. Keep in mind, i had lived there for 3 years. And that she should apply my last months rent that i had to pay upon moving in for august rents. She had me evicvted for nonpayment of rent when it had already been paid. It was reallya retalliatory eviction for calling housing for the rats. She also kept my $650.00 security deposit. The debt collector said i owed 700.00 for rents due in august, 20.00 filing fee, and interest, and sertvice fees. My rent wasn't even 700.00! This woman has 21 cases in court for pending wage garnishments! Lats week my employer was notified of a oncoming garnishment to my pay. I do not owe this woman this money!!! She owns 2/3 of lacey, wa owns severasl businesses, thanks to people like me that can do nothing about her triffling actions. She needs to be stopped.
