Jerk off trying to collect on a check i don't know about ripoff

I've been receiving letters from this company since '06. I have no idea where these so called checks are coming from. When I called to check on the situation, they can't tell me anything, neither will they let me talk to the supervisor. This notice tells me that I will have to go to court and pay up to $2400 to plead my case. This is ridiculous and I don't think it's fair. The check that I supposedly wrote was in '99 and this is '07. I asked why it has taken so long to contact me and why am I just now receiving these letters. The answers are just silly run arounds. He also told me that he would turn this over to his attorneys for further action, this is what I've been getting told since last year. Now I receive a notice in the mail of going to court. That is a bunch *. He can't tell me anything about these checks but insist that I go to court and prove myself for $2400. I think not. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do??
