Clay Cooley Motors
Takes Advantage, In All Ways Buyers Beware! Ripoff

Miscellaneous

I purchased a 2001 Ford Windstar, $1000.00 down from Clay Cooley Motors in Dallas in 01/06. To begin the story before I buy the car, I visited the car lot two different occassions and not until the last visit is when I found the van that I was looking for. The saleman-Terrance was very nice and appeared to be honest. He informed me that one of three initial SUV's that I was looking to purchase was not a good choice - bad car, he stated. So I found a 2003 Ford Windstar and left a small down payment to hold until the up coming weekend. The dealership would call me several times during that next week before purchase to make sure that my needs were being met. On Friday I spoke to my salesman - Terrance to let him know that I was in route the the car lot to pick up my van and he stated "All was fine and that they would be waiting on my arrival. Well, when I got there, I was told that my van had just been sold by another salesman. I then wanted to speak to my initial salesman-Terrance and was told that he had just left for the night and that I could be helped by Tyrone. I should have ran and never looked back at this point, but I allowed Tyrone to show my another van, the first van he showed me was a van that was being driven by someone on the sale team, the second van that he showed was perfect, until I drove home. Not to mention the payment was $475.00 monthly... I really did not make a big deal over the payment, because I had some credit issues such a bankruptcy and from what "Clay Cooley" advertises is that They assist with All Credit Types and to "Take It to Clay." Bad Mistake!!!

I called the dealership, because as soon at I drove in my drive way the van started shaking and leaking fluid. I spoke to my intial salesman-Terrance, whom all of a sudden was back at work and it was night time. He had me to bring the van right back, so my son and I got back in the van and drove back to Clay Cooley. When we arrived I was met by one of the Sales Managers and he made me feel like a plum fool, that I purchased the van as is and that there was nothing that they could do. After I realized that I was mot getting anyway with him, I raised my voice and he quickly ran to the Managers office and came back with a solution. They would give me a loaner, untiol my van was repaired, well this went on for the next 4 months, They would call and I would go to pick up my van - each time, it would have to go back the same day and sometimes I would not even drive it off the service lot. The Service Department finally stated that the van was "BAD" and would need major transmission work. The sales manger was notified that intially helped me and he stated that he was sorry for not believing me and for the problems that I was having with my purchase. He stated that he will see what he could do, so I again had a loaner van.

One day in May, I recieved a phone call from the dealership. Christina, in the payment center called because they could not figure out why I was making my payments and that they had my car. I informed her that my van that I purchased was still there because they were repairing it and that I was given a loaner to drive until it was fixed or until they figured out what they were going to do. The next thing I know is that I receive a phone call from the sales manager-Bill and he asked me to bring the laoner van back and he asked "who gave me the loaner van, " I stated "You.' He than informed me that they had been looking for the van and that some people were about to loss their jobs because no one knew where the (That) van was. Mind, you that as long as I had the loaner van, having to go to the lot to make payments on the initial van that I purchased and they were to repair. They then gave me back my initial van and stated that it was fixed. This time I was able to drive it home and parked it, opend the driver side door and there was a stream of liquid running from under the van. I called the car lot and informed them of this and that I had just left the lot and that my van had been in their service shop for repairs. They stated that there was nothing that could be done.

I ased to speak to Clay Cooley himself, and left a voice mail for a return phone call. Mr. Cooley called me back the next afternoon, he asked me to being the van back to the sevice shop. I again took the van back. The service manager Paul stated that there was something major going on with the van. Paul contacted the sales manager Bill to resolve the problem. I sat there for 3 hours waiting on their resolution. Paul, noticed that I was still sitting there and stated that he would contact Mr. Cooley himself, because it did not make any sense for me to still be experienceing problems with the van and not to mention still sitting and waiting after 3 hours.

I was given another loaner to drive after Mr. Cooley stated to handle it. At this point I was very upset, I purchased this van in January and had not been able to enjoy my actua purchase, but loaner vehicles and still made my payments on time. I finally decided in June, on the 7th for them to come and get the van - that I had not been able to drive.

Needless to say, I am without an automobile and I am in the proccess of looking for another one, that I learned that Clay Cooley reported that I have a Repo. As a result. What a Big Lie, talk about dishonest, scamming and Ohhhh, their sloagan, "Take It to Clay." - NOT!!!
