Looked great on paper but was horrible as an employee once hired

Chett Patrick interviewed well for his position at my company. He was picked out of many candidates as the best for the position. Once hired, he was pretty good for the first two months, then the complaints started.

Exemplary employees who were not known for complaints were visibly and verbally unhappy with thier new supervisor. He had a double standard for his "team". He had a chauvenistic attitude regarding women and often alienated them by relagating them to mere desk duty. He referred to the secretaries as "broom riders" simply because they did not agree with his attitude towards them.

He was late nearly every day, took two hour lunches, and spent most of his day in the kitchen eating and socializing. What he expected of one team member, he did not of another. He reprimanded one subordinate for not moving boxes quickly enough knowing this person had priorities and duties that conflicted with his request. He was lazy and spent most of his day staring at a computer screen that rarely changed.

He lacks basic computer skills. His resume claims he had experience doing the work of his subordinates, but he clearly lacked the skills one would expect with the experience he claimed to have. When asked to do a simple task of writing an RFP, it took him two months to research how to write one. And even then it was poorly done.

His lacks the leadership skills necessary to motivate his department.in fact, the deparment was only motivated to get rid of him. He could not retain the respect of the secretaries, nor most of the management.

He was hired to be a "hands-on" manager. He was very hands-off, and would often do whatever he wanted to do, including pursuing expenses upgrades the firm never intended to implement.

His resume may be impressive, but the person you get in the interview is not the person you will get as an employee. He's a waste of your resources. You will spend more time in dealing with complaints than is worth his salary. He will cater only to those he thinks will save his butt, meaning hiring partners and upper management.
