MEGA Life And Health Insurance Company
Ripoff Mining for Recruits

Miscellaneous

Yesterday, I received an email from someone representing themselves as an Executive Assistant for UGA-Association Field Services. Their website indicates that they are associated with MEGA Life and Health Insurance. The first red flag came with the email greeting "Dear Confidential"... Soon followed by "Mr. Wilhoit has reviewed your resume and asked me to schedule an interview."

Nothing this company has done in this instance is illegal. They have every right to use monster.com to find qualified individuals to recruit for their company. After reading previous consumer complaintss, it appears that there may be some questionable practices in their approach to mining monster.com for potential employees. The recruiting email describes the practice this way: "We are an uncommon company and we subscribe to an uncommon recruiting process". Some might translate that to mean "we prey on people who are apparently desperate enough to use monster.com to find any kind of employment."

Nothing in my monster.com resume implies that I am looking for a sales position, nothing in my resume implies that I have any interest in the insurance industry whatsoever, and nothing implies that I am looking to change career paths. If indeed Mr. Wilhoit had actually "reviewed" my resume, I am confident he would have gleaned those minor details.

I add this post in hopes that others who are part of this "uncommon recruiting process" might add this practice to the list of questionable practices associated with other complaints about MEGA Life and Health Insurance.
