I have to say I am more than sad to have seen these reports on these (cough) breeders. I am/was due to pick out and take home a puppy this week and have been gleefully with the whole family looking forward to this event as this will have been a new baby in the family. I am looking for a great dane pet, but I am looking and being choosy because I want a pet that has come from pure good bloodlines free of any heartbreaking defects.

I guess I am one of the lucky one that did my homework first but I swear we have cried a bit as the disapointment of puppy day is now cancelled. Tell this to a beautiful five year old who has recently lost her first dog, and has shed to many tears already. If anyone has any info on reputable breeders in or near oregon ie: WA, CA and all the other western states as I would like to pick up the puppy instead of shipping and see the parents etc.

I have been in contact with a few "real" recognized breeders, but the few I have come in contact with have no puppies and not looking at having any anytime soon as they are really breeding for their show dogs and people interested in show puppies. Again I just want a healthy quality pet great dane.
