Ripoff! Took the money and no services rendered!

I ordered a front window and on the day of install, gave the vendor a check for $1290.00 for a deposit. The remainder due was was $1750.00. I told the vendor i would pay him in full in 2 weeks when my home equity went through.

He came to collect his money exactly 2 weeks later.

At that time he took me outside to admire the window and talked me into three basement windows for $600.00 apiece.
I also contracted with him to do a repair of vinyl on the side of my house and repair to the vinyl on my deck.

Handshake. He had done work for my 80 year old mother and she swore by him. Based on my mother's word, I sent him to do work for my best friend who was not happy with the customer service, but I chalked it up to the fact that she can be hard to please.

Anyway, on the day the final payment for the front window was made, I decided to purchase the three basement windows and cointract for the vinyl repairs.

I owed him $1750.00. He said to give him a check for $4500.00 and he would install the three basement windows and do the vinyl repair. A difference of $2750. $1800.00 for the three windows. $950.00 for the vinyl repair.

That was in July 0f 2005.

I have yet to receive the three basement windows. He has conveniently "forgotten" any contract for the vinyl.

He is refusing to render the services or refund my money.

At this point, I want my $2750.00 back.

BBB would not do anything because he is not a member and because we had only a verbal contract. I have copies (signed by him) of BOTH checks where I paid him $5700.00 and have only a $3000.00 front window to show for it.

This man is as stubborn and sleazy as they come. Beware!!!
