It doesn't make sense that a lawyer's office would send a collection notice THREE years after the date of service when I received NOTHING regarding the bill prior to the notice. I wonder if there is a case of double billing or fraud.

I am told that I must resolve the $53 debt ASAP or there will be a mark on our credit. However, it will take 45 days or more to recieve the original bill.

This seems like extortion to me.
