Altered check, ripoff

Bought a magazine subscription for 'Runner's Life' from an enterprising young woman that came to my door. Wrote a check for $26.00 for the subscription, but when I checked my bank statement, the check had been altered to read "$126.00". Alteration was clumsy and obvious, and when I reported it, my bank immediately recognized it as a scam.

My bank is currently investigating the company.
