Miscellaneous

On September 16, Star Communications called me and informed me that I was one of lucky few selected for a marketing package. The package included movie passes, amusement park passes and a 500 dollar shopping spree at any mall. They needed only 4.95 for the processing fee. They could not take any form of payment except my checking account and routing information. They are very peristent and try to gain your trust by divulging fake information about themselves. For example, my person's name was "Jared Robinson" and his id number was 0502. He also claimed to be giving me his checking account info to show how hard it was to take unauthorized money out of other people's accounts. He even patiently waited for me to investigate him while I was on the phone with him. Lo and behold, Star Communications has a dozen aliases; Consumer Rewards Network, Autogold Consumer Rewards, Premier Benefits. They all run the same scam and take more money than the initial 4.95 fee. People are losing hundreds of dollars in both money this company is taking and the bounced check fee. It is a nationwide scam, spanning both coasts.
