Ripoff free $5,000 Government grants

On a postcard from McFarland Consulting in Orange City, Florida: "You have been identified as a possible qualifier for a government grant of at least $5,000. Remember a grant is money that the recipient never has to pay back. 30 mintes program approval. Free application over the phone... Here are just a few that you may be interested in applying for: education-job tgraining-housing and real estate - health - business..."
I have also received several phone calls from Montreal Canada with the same message. The comeon includes saying that I was selected to receive US government money because I am a good citizen and for paying my taxes. The person finally asked for my bank account number so that " my identiy could be verified". When I asked for written information for me to verify the company's identity, the caller hung up on me.
