Ripoff refusal to pay unfair treamnent

I have worked for different Great Clips salons in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. And I have yet to be payed for the work I do and products i sell. Or a "thank you" for the hard work and extra help that myself and other stylist put in to benefit the salon (or should i say the owner).

We haven't had a full time manager or assistant manager since last summer. It's been 6 months now. And finally we are scheduled to have a meeting in which is to be held on a Sunday (not even held on normal business day) at around 5pm after they close the shop. Also, may I add it is "mandatory". Who the heck holds a mandatory meeting on a Sunday when most people are with their families, church or what ever it may be that most people CAN'T do because we are "WORKING". And when i have heard other stylist ask to either work different hrs. Because they would like to attend their churh services. They where told "no" and to figure out another time to go. Some Religions have their services or mass on Sundays only.

I thought we had freedom of religion in this country. The owner for whom we work for, because of his religious beleives will not answer the phone or have anything to do with any of the salons on Saturdays. But we are not allowed to have our religious day. I thought that was against the law. It is discrimination!

He also, will not pay us for closing the drawer, cleaning, and dropping off the bank deposit. And we are told if we don't do this we will be fired. How is it that we would get fired for not doing something we are not, and will not be paid for. And any money the drawer is short is to be payed back by the receptionist or she will get fired.

And if we get lucky maybe someday we will find out how we are being paid as far as pay scale for productivity %, product%, and closing at the end of the night. Also, no matter how many hours you work, if you don't work 12 double weekends a year you will not get holiday pay, vacation pay, and as of recently it was also health benefits.

And if that's not bad enough one of the stylist was black listed for LIES made up by managers that abuse their power. And was told that she would not be able to get a job in another hair salon again. This is "SLANDER" "SLANDER" "SLANDER"!

This is abuse of power, and employees. I wish i could say more but If I do i will be fired.

We need our own union or something. We paid alot of money for cosmetology school, equipment, continuing education, and pay every other year to be licensed by the state. For what? So we can be treated like assembly line workers. I think we would get better benefits, and pay if we where assembly line workers.

Waitreses make more money then us. And they don't even make the food. They don't have to pay thousands of dollars for school, and all the other things i have already mentioned.

We are like being told we are "GENERIC". The same as name brand but alot cheaper. We are sweat shop workers!

This is unfair!!!
