Radon Mitigation Experience with SWAT Environmental

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with the service I received from SWAT Environmental during a critical time in my home sale process.

After an inspection revealed high radon levels, I contacted your company and was connected with Ari Whitmore-Sirotta. Ari was helpful, patient, and informative—especially as I had never heard of radon before. I explained that I was selling my home to relocate and care for my 85-year-old mother, and that I had a strong offer pending. Ari assured me that SWAT Environmental could resolve the issue quickly and professionally.

Unfortunately, after the system was installed and I waited the recommended 48 hours to retest, my radon levels increased from 4.7 to 5.9. When I called for support, I was met with attitude and resistance from the scheduler. My original appointment had already been canceled by your team due to a scheduling conflict, and with closing approaching, I needed urgent help. The earliest appointment offered was a week later, and even that was rescheduled two days prior. I was told the technician would only assess the system—not fix it. This was unacceptable given the urgency and the fact that the system had failed.

Ultimately, I had to hire another company, pay for a complete new installation, and correct what was confirmed to be an incorrect system for my home. Thankfully, the new company resolved the issue, and I passed the radon test in time for the family to close. I did speak with a manager who seemed responsive and open to finding a resolution—at minimum, meeting halfway given the financial and emotional stress this situation caused. However, since that conversation, I’ve received no follow-up and no returned calls, despite being promised a response.

I’m sharing this not out of anger, but in the hope that SWAT Environmental will take accountability and improve its customer service and technical assessment processes. This experience was costly, stressful, and avoidable.
