Don't expect a 'good' deal from GOOD'S FURNITURE

In June of 1998, my husband and I went shopping for bedroom furniture. Expecting our first child in July, we also had in mind furniture for our baby's nursery. We had heard from a TV commercial about Good's furniture and a "special" they were having on all furniture in their store and NO financing for 1 full year if put on a Good's credit card. We purchased over $4,000.00 of new bedroom furniture from Good's and charged it to a Good's account. We told our salesperson that we would like to start paying for our furniture immediately so we could have it paid off before our 1 year was expired and then we would have to pay interst.

Of course, out bill took 6 months to reach our mailbox, and low and behold, there were finance fees included. After speaking to the store manager, who could do nothing for us, she referred me to the "district manager". Pete, as he is referred to, told me I must pay for the furniture because it is now in my possession. Well, no kidding Pete, I have no problem paying for the furniture, it's the finance fees I'm not going to pay, afterall, that is what your company advertisied. Maybe it was hard for him to understand our complaint because his car phone kept cutting off our conversation!!!

Finally after months of getting nowhere with Good's Furniture or Pete, the "district mamager". I got my local State Attorney General's office involved. We received a check in the mail for $380.00. A refund for the finance fees we had paid toward the furniture. We also received a 6 month extension on our payments because Good's did not send out our bill immediately as we requested. We paid off the bedroom furniture just before the finance fees were to start.

We will never shop at Good's Furniture again. And we have certainly passed along this information to family and friend's to beware of the false advertising by Good's.
