Insurance Fraud

I received a phone call on the above date from Proedge Health Plans. My caller ID showed that the call was originating from Teche Regiional Med. Center. During the course of the conversation, I learned that they were supposedly selling medical insurance. As I was wanting to purchase insurance I listened to what they had to say and asked pertinent questions about their plan. One question that I asked, on more than one occasion, was if this was insurance and not a discount plan. Each time I asked this question (to multiple representatives) I was told that they were providing medical insurance and that it was not a discount plan. Having all my questions answered to my satisfaction, I paid $99.00 for membership fee and $177.55 for the first months payment. Upon receiving their policy and reading it very carefully, I discovered that this was a discount program and NOT insurance as I was told. I feel that this company and its representatives were less than honest about their program. I also question their phone number appearing on the caller ID as that of the local hospital. I think that this company should be investigated for possible fraud.
I contacted Proedge Health Plans and cancelled my policy and demanded a full refund. After informing them that I was reporting them to the insurance commissioners office, they stated that they would make a full refund. I will be waiting to see if they do return my money.
