Stay away from tom tom

If you own a Tom Tom navigation device, you have my sympathy! When you try and purchase map updates you are told the price is R784.95 and you will get a 10% "discount". However, when you start the purchase process the price changes to R977.00! They should have called it a penalty, not a discount!

I thought I would complain on the Tom Tom South Africa facebook page. Wow! Soooo many complaints, it is an experience just to read through a few. Go read for yourself on at [URL Removed] Faulty units, promises broken, poor service... The list goes on and on. (There must be 20 complaints for each good/indifferent message).

I will have to use the navigation app on my tablet from now on. The updates are regular and free and it works all the time.

My advice? Stay away from tom tom!
