Miscellaneous

The "Labor Compliance Office" sends you a notice in the mail that says a $275 fee is now due. The notice is made to look like it's coming from a government agency and strongly suggests that the fee is now due. It tries to scare you by citing state and federal labor-related employment-related posting requirements and asks if you would like them to send you the required posters. You can get these posters much cheaper than $275, by the way. If you read closely, the notice contains statutory language saying it's not a bill, but a solicitation. It's not very easy to see this statement, however, and I'm sure many people fall for it and send in the money when in fact they are not required to pay anything. These people are scumbags. Don't fall for this scam.
