John at Evolution Bankcard promised me NO START-UP COSTS, free terminal setup - but was not at all forthcoming about the upfront $252.90 I would be charged. Nor did he say anything about an annual fee. It's possible that this "fee" may bu buried in fine print - but Evolution was not at ALL honest about what I would be charged and when.

I was turned off by this deceptive sales practice, so I sent a letter of cancellation via FAX (with confirmation) and via email. I also sent the NEVER-ACTIVATED terminal back to Commerce Payment Systems (Evolution Bankcard's alias, I suppose). Even after I never activated the terminal, sent a cancellation request, and returned the terminal WITH USPS CONFIRMATION, Evolution Bankcard continued to charge me a monthly fee.
