I too was called saying that a sister company of Publisher's Clearing House (Consumer Clearing House) who had a sweepstakes and that I had won a second prize of $500,000. Emily was the first person who called and then transferred me to their International tax lawyer Henry Chase, who explained that the taxes would be taken out... And because they knew how to get lower taxes on the $500K only $65K and a check was going out to me on July 3. I only had to pay the remaining amount of $2500 today to release the winning check. Also gave me a number to call the Federal Gaming and Trade Commission at 202-629-9892. Spoke with a guy who finally said they do have a claim no.in my name. I tried to find out if it is legal to pay money to someone who says I have won a sweepstakes. He said well, if you don't think it's real. Report a scam. Then Henry Chase called me back and I told him that I
don't believe this is real and that there is a report on his company online about this very scam being done to another woman. That's two!
I wonder how many others will be suckered into paying money to these heartless losers.
