Miscellaneous

I was having problems with my iMac keyboard and used this site to help me with the issue. Once the keyboard issue was solved, the tech (thick Indian accent) informed me that after scanning the activity on my computer, he'd detected a worm and that all my personal data was compromised. He then cited two ways for fixing the issue. One was taking the computer (and all the devices connected to it?!) to the Apple store, waiting 5-7 days, and then paying $320. The other option was for maxpcsupport.com to fix the infection remotely for $260. When he connected me to another tech, the price jumped to $339.initially I agreed (stupid I know), but did some research online while they were working on it, saw the red flags, unplugged the computer, and contacted Visa to cancel the transaction. Thankfully, I wasn't charged, and found out Visa had already tagged the transaction as fraudulent. The next day I took the iMac to the Apple store, got it scanned and was told there was NO infection an charged me nothing for the service. Do not trust this company.
