I received a price quote for a new Elantra Gt from an interline sales person representing Hyundai Riverside dealership. She quoted a very low ball price of 16,000 and some odd change plus tax and license fees. I live close to 70 miles away from this dealership and I called her back to reverify what car I needed and the specific package. I explained to her that I didn't want to make an unnecessary trip for a misunderstanding of the price or the specific car. She assured me that they had a Grey GT with the style package. I told her that I read under customer reviews that some people were upset with low ball prices at her dealership and was not offered the car they wanted nor the price. She claimed that she was honest with the customers and I shouldn't believe all reviews. My husband and I were excited to travel over to the dealership and I arranged with her to call before I came out to make sure we'd go over the specs of that car with her manager. I called the next day and she had left a message that morning that the Grey car was sold earlier. I asked about alternate colors with the Style Package and she gave me a quote of 21,000 and some change for the white car with Style package and Tech Package. Another unbelievable quote! We drove out and tried to find Ciara (internet specialist) who claimed to be there but was greeted by Sam a sales person. I knew we were in deep trouble when Ciara was no where to be found. He looked perplexed (or tried to) when we gave him the car and prices we were quoted. She also quoted a black car for 19,000 and so change with the Style Package only. We looked at the cars on the lot and I finally settled with the Red car with the Style package. He went over the numbers and figured out that she quoted the base price minus ALL the rebates that Hyundai offered such as Military, loyal customer, college student, and the 1500.00 bank financing incentive. All the incentives and rebates we did not qualify except for the 1500.00. To top this all off, we were extremely upset because every car was equipped with Lo Jack. A very expensive security tracking that wasn't needed because there is a theft device as standard equipment in the GT. Sam claimed that the owner installs Lo Jack in all the cars and expects the customer to eat that expense? He also claimed that there was nothing he could honor from the internet dept because that was a like a separate area. Plus, the white car with the style package and tech package was not there at all. He had no idea about that one. Sam knew I was extremely upset about all this and that I'd report this in the customer review to warn others. It seems like a big scam to lure unsuspecting people into the dealership to sell them some other car with some other equipment they don't want. I should've gone with my intuitive thoughts but I was fooled by a lying rep at Riverside Metro Auto on June 12th. This letter is for you to keep as reference until something can be done with an unethical business like this!
