Recently, I received a charge for $352.31 to my bank account. I looked up the "company" that supposedly I'd made a payment to, and I called up their toll free number only to find I'd have to call some "premium" account customer service line to actually talk to a real person.
All other "customer service" contact methods were online and required me to log in, but since I had no idea about this company until I received this charge, I could not log in to contact the company. I ended up trying the premium help line, but my check card/credit card number apparently didn't show up in their records. The people I ended up talking to on the premium help line obviously didn't speak english as their primary language, so I couldn't really ask them what I wanted to... Which was "Was there any other payment method someone could have paid for an account?" I figured that perhaps someone used my bank account number, or something like that. The female representative I talked to ("Julie") said to fax the credit card statement to them including a message saying that the charges were not authorized.
I'm currently on the phone trying to talk to someone at my bank's fraudulant transaction line to see if I could receive some sort of documentation in the mail concerning the transaction. If I can't, I'll simply have to file an unauthorized transaction with the bank and go through all the fun crap... Now I've found out from the bank that a checking card which was cancelled cut up from a previous unauthorized transaction was the card used. Hm... If that's not an obvious unauthorized transaction, I don't know what is.:)
