Over the last year I was informally a business partner in a catering business venture. All contracts and arrangements were verbal only but none the less they were contracts.
A discrepancy with final end of the year earnings ultimately led to my departure from the business. Upon numerous requests of financial figures nothing has been disclosed to me. Long story short, I was expecting between $7,000 - $10,000 or thereabout by my calculations however the exact figures remain in the sole possession of the executive chef and owner of the company.
I have since come to discover that the owner was also using a fabricated GST number for invoicing purposes along with practising without the appropriate licensing and permits.

Having to now file my taxes for the 2012 year, I will indefinitely owe funds for my earnings for year, funds which I have earned and the business has been paid for - but which is being withheld from me as a form of retribution for leaving the company out of spite. A small claims action may be my only mode of chance regarding this situation however the paper trail is simply not there... No response from the company after numerous attempts to settle or mediate the situation privately
