I once found a payday loan of $300. To take catre of a small matter. Once the matter was taken care of the $300. Was paid back quickly as to not to gain interest, so it was paid on time and in full. I never recieved a release letter from Payday Loans and the next thing i knew 60 days after payoff, someone from a collection agency was trying to get another payment from the Credit Union I used, but I had closed out my account immediately after the loan was paid off to make sure noone tried any funny business. The Credit Union leagal department advised me to send in to Payday loans a check to keep them from submitting another withdrawal again. After taking the banks advise, I started getting calls from people who claimed to be wtih the FBI, A US Treasury agent, all kinds of threats from arbitrators from all over the country. Many calling with my Social security number and wanting to know where I was so they can serve me papers. After consulting with the local Sheriff Dept. About the threat, I was advised that the papers would be illegally served and could not be used in a court of law in the state of NC. I am still getting calls from people who locally are trying to influence threats from these Collection agents.
