Miscellaneous

A rep claiming to be from Oakwood Management Group contacted me about the sale of my timeshare. He offered a good price, and stated that I would need to front the Mexico sales tax of $3200. I did what I though was thorough research of the company, and wired the funds to a legitimate bank in Mexico. We were contacted a second time, but this time for an additional $3000 to cover Federal taxes. This is when I figured out the scam, and when I called them on it there was no answer. All attempts to contact them went unanswered.

I now know that the Bank I wired to was legitimate, but the account the money went to was not.

It is cheap insurance to get an attorney involved in any timeshare sale. Do nothing online!
