Miscellaneous

In August I received a certificate for 3 days/2 nights trip as a result of spending over 2 hours listening to a vacation club promotion.in order to redeem the certificate, I had to jump through numerous hoops. I had to give them 3 specific dates, within specific parameters, name a specific guest, for one of 3 specific places and then I had to pay $98 for the priviledge. They make it so that it is impossible for the average person to comply with all of their requests and they state if you do not comply then they can cancel the offer and keep your $98. It is clear the whole thing is set up so the person will either give up in frustration or accept a trip to Nowhere, Kansas.
I actually managed to fulfill all of the requirements and sent my money only to be notified after several months (just last week) that they could not accomodate any of the dates that I had selected. I was not permitted to request new dates or new locations and was simply told they could not help me. It was only after I told them I was a lawyer and would file a small claims action that they even agreed to send back the orginal $98. They did not compensate me for the two hours I spent attending their presentation with the promise of a "free vacation", the money I spent to purchase the cashier's check, the 2 certified mailings that they required or the 45 minutes they kept me on hold only to tell me that none of the dates or location I chose were available. They also cannot compensate me for the embarrasment of planning a trip with someone only to have to cancel on them 5 months later. I am an attorney with very little spare time and this whole situation required a tremendous amount of time with absoutely nothing to show for it. This place is a total scam and should be put out of business.
