Dispute about a loan settlement: Ref 6629237E005

I settled my personal loan with African Bank on 25 May with an amount of R281,04, on 27 Jan I received an sms from African Bank which states that I have a balance of R654 with them. I went 2 Beares where I took the loan for enquiry with my last receipt. Tha cashier is still insisting that the amount I paid was the settlement amount that was on the system at that time. African Bank says that amount was the balance not the settlement amount. Now it seems I owe the bank & the balance is increasing everyday. What do I do in this situation?
