My husband was online with a legitimate company, such as CNET. He's not sure. He clicked on a link to take a survey and he would get a camera for $1.00. When we realized the camera was a film camera, we sent them an email to close our account. They replied with: "As you requested your subscription created with your email address: genesahlie@msn.com has now been cancelled and it will not be renewed when the subscription expires next month." We really didn't pay much attention to the "next month" because we assumed there would be no further activity on our debit card.
This morning (2/27) I went online (to Chase) to check my checking account after seeing a different balance in Quicken than my checking register.
I called and reported a fraudulent charge and they opened a report for me. They will dispute the charge and they gave us a $119.00 temporary credit until this can be straightened out.
I think it is important to report fraud to your bank. They will help you resolve the problem.
