I requested a full refund of my Newsweek print magazine subscription paid in full until March 19, on December 13. I was given a customer service number of 003670064, and I was told my refund would be issued in 4 to 6 weeks.in the third week of January I e-mailed Newsweek customer service to check on the status of my refund. I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks to process, on top of the 6 weeks since my request in December. I inquired a third time in mid february and have now been advised that my request to cancel my subscription is being processed and it will take another 6 to 8 weeks. It would appear Newsweek is delaying processing refund requests for as long as possible to redcue the amount they will have to refund. At the rate of another 6 to 8 weeks to process, I can see where Neweek will redcue my refund down until it is virtually nothing. As my departed father would often say, "If it looks like consumer fraud, smells like consumer fraud, it probably is consumer fraud."
