Watch out for newspapers' kids that come by asking for money so they can earn points for college. I suspect they are using this tactic to sell SUBSCRIPTIONS to unexpected victims. I just gave a kid $10 and after the fact, I realized he gave me a RECEIPT for a subscription. Beware of kids trying to sell subscriptions to the san jose mercury!!! It's a scam tactic!
