I am semi-retired nurse, placed an ad on Craigslist and was hired by this person to care for her Grandma a Mrs. Racheal Hughes. She sent me a ceck through the mail which I received on Jan 12, and tried to cash at Citi Bank, where the check was drawn on. The amount of the check was supposed to be $300, but she claimed her husband was part owner of Haliburton here and he had overpaid me as an oversight and she was asking that I western union monies that were extra to North Carolina.
They thought the check looked okay but when they tried to find the acct number, things were not right with it and they turned it over to fraud dept. I feel that I was taken advantage of by her and she keeps saying the check was fine. I wanted to report this because it seems if you put any kind of ad on Craigslist that you are automatically targeted for scams. I was contacted by all kinds of people claiming to be all kind of things. I saved all emails and texts and I am hoping that this kind of activity can be stopped.
