Poor quality work and billing / collection

We had hired K&S Roofing for several projects. Projects were either of poor quality, not completed as requested, or problems not corrected over a period of months when brought to Mr. Slattery's (owner and person doing most of the work or directly responsible for quality). After multiple meetings and warnings with Mr. Slattery regarding the lack of follow-up, poor quality and not showing up on project when promised we terminated his involvement with our remodel and any future work.

Upon termination Mr. Slattery retaliated by fabricating charges and invoiced us for work that was either normal and customary as part of the project we had already paid him or that we never asked him to do.in addition we paid for the majority of materials up front with the exception of several that I paid him for as soon as he presented the invoices. I asked him at the time if there were any others and was told no. After terminating him and in retaliation he has now come back and stated I owe him hundreds more in materials. Mr. Slattery is also invoicing us for continuing to use an independent contractor who did some work for us prior to our terminating K&S even though he was never his employee and he never had a contract with him. It has and will cost us thousands to correct the poor quality of work and to complete projects he didn't including exterior painting, cabinet/shelves he was supposed to build, caulking around windows, sealing holes under roof line correctly (we hired him based on his telling us he was the expert " he isn't and wasn't"), damage done to exterior stone, etc.
