Jasmine McCogg And The Presale Tale Webstore
Ripoff a college student looking for a laptop

Internet & Web

Jasmine McCogg, through her front as the Presale Tale Webstore, maliciously ripped off me and others by pretending to be a vendor of popular electronics (laptops, digital cameras, Mp3's, etc...). The website was expertly crafted to decieve people through a false sense of security in their purchases, and to subtley influence the use of checks instead of other forms of payment.

I found the site advertised on amazon.com, while looking for a laptop for school purposes. The site was under the Apple laptop section, with no products to buy but a link to the store. I traversed the link and found excellent deals on laptops. They claimed to be having a 50% off sale because their credit card machine was down.

I looked around the site and found convincing evidence that they were a ligitimate operation. The most convincing piece of information was a large insignia that had the PayPal logo and read "PayPal verified", along with an embeded link to the PayPal website in the graphics. Their other security policies were those that you would expect to find for any reputable website. Since there was a PayPal insignia and I had navigated to the site through amazon.com, I felt that I could trust the webstore, because both PayPal and Amazon gaurantee any purchase.

I ordered an Apple Powerbook, and was immediately sent a confirmation e-mail with my invoice number, confirmation code, and a reciept of my transaction. Since I wrote a personal check to an individual, it took the usual three weeks to process.

When the time passed I contacted the store about the delivery of my merchandise and the tracking number for my package, and an e-mail was sent informing me that it would take a few more weeks because there stack had been depleted due to overwhelming demand.

I left on vacation shortly after that, and when I returned the package had still not arrived. I tried contacting the store and my e-mail was returned as undeliverable. I have not been able to contact the company since, even though I have tried many times. The website now says that they are under construction and gives a link to use to contact them that is inoperational.

The cost of the merchandise amounted to $929.89, a large sum to a struggling college student. If you have any information concerning Jasmine McCogg or the Presale Tale Webstore, please contact me and/or this site to help make this person responsible for her illegal acts. If you have also been the target of this company and have been ripped off by them as I, then join with me in revealing these thieves by writing a consumer complaints as I have.
