Becky Gould theft, fraud, breach of contract

I was contacted by Becky Gould, the owner of Vitamin Advocates (vitaminadvocates.com) to perform some simple web design tasks. Once we agreed upon the work to be performed and the compensation that was going to be remitted, I began work.

I had initially asked the owner, Becky Gould, to remit the initial deposit by simply making a deposit into my checking account. She began to come up with excuses as to why she could not do this, and so I settled for an electronic draft that was not delivered for another week. During this time, I set out to perform the work that I had been contracted to do.

By the end of the week of 5/4, I had made significant progress, and she conveyed to me that she was pleased with the changes that I had made. I received a check for the amount of $640.00 on Saturday, May 5th. When I attempted to deposit the check, I found out that she had put a stop-payment on the check. I then immediately contacted Becky Gould of vitaminadvocates.com to ask her why she had done so.

According to Becky Gould, because I did not inform her that I didn't work on weekends (and a myriad of other weak excuses) that this was sufficient excuse to terminate the project and put a stop payment on the check. As it turns out, she kept the work that I performed for her, and I was out not only the money for the deposit, but also the additional time that I'd put in fixing other issues left behind by her previous web designer.

It became quite apparent to me that she never had any intention of honoring her agreement. I'm out over $1,200.00 of work time because this person is an unscrupulous cheapskate who obviously does not care about the energy that others put into their work, or about work ethics, morality or breach of contract.
