Bordering on Fraudelent

Internet & Web

Broadband is a third party offering rebates on modems (making them virtually free) if you sign up with service for the various Internet providers. Their fine print and lack of follow-through on contacting the companies (Comcast, Charter, etc...) to give them a service order makes for a potentially poor result on getting a rebate. After going through trying to set up service with Comcast, I think this is their strategy to reap billable sales on a modem while you are unable to collect on the rebate - or at least all of it as most come in two stages. This is what appears to happen: you order service through them and then need to contact Comcast (BroadbandOffers sends an email using Comcast logos) to get an install. You call Comcast and they've never heard of you but will "sign you up" matching the price you quote BroadbandOffers giving you. You have now effectively ceased being an initialized Broadband customer and are now solely signed on by Comcast... Now, you've received the modem and need to send in various forms one of which is the first statement. Stated in the fine print from Broadband, it says, "rebate forms submitted are the sole property of Broadband" and they are under no obligation to tell you really why you aren't eligible to receive the second rebate (this is the one of higher cash value, it's maybe likely you'll get $30 back - it IS VERY likely you got a refurbished modem boxed all new). As others have noted on various websites, Jay & Julie will be polite and very scrupulous in stating their policies, no exceptions. If you wish to cease relations with them but have sent in a rebate, their policies state that no returns are possible - even though Comcast offers a 30 days guarantee... You've just bought a refurbished modem at top price! I suggest you contact your credit card company and dispute the charge using the angle of near-fraudelent like structure on their return policies and NOT following through on setting up your service with the Internet provider (if that is the case for you). The Comcast techs I've spoken to over the past 45 days have all voiced knowledge of the flimflam methods of BroadbandOffers.
