I logged on to usacomplaints.com site after recovering from the system shutdown this download caused and found that someone else had already reported exactly the same thing. Rather than restate everything, suffice to say the experience was identical. The only thing I would add is that the initial contact was very cleverly disquised as a message from within Windows from the Security Center. Normally I don't fall for frauds and phishing schemes, but this one got me. The other author was correct in that the download disabled almost all fuctionality of the computer, including the ability to use system tools, such as system restore to try to get around this thing. I was even unable to back-up my data on a thumbdrive before being forced to pay for this fraud. Since I had no choice but to pay I was going to use my Amex card since they are very good with contested charges. But these guys already planned for that by only allowing Visa or Mastercard for payment. I wonder what happens to people without one of those cards?
