Automated System Discourages Calling an Agent, Repeated Internet Outages

I have had ATT Uverse for tv, internet and phone for just 3 months. I have had to call twice to get internet access restored. Both times their automated system offers to run a diagnostic test and informs me that there are service issues in my area and don't bother talking to an agent as they won't be able to help you. The first time I waited 2 days for internet access to be restored, only to discover that wasn't the issue at all. The second time of course I ignored the advice and talked to an agent who was able to get my wifi connection to work. Now setting aside the fact that I have now called the customer service two times more than I ever had to contact my prior internet provider, I find it unbelievable that a major company can't fix their automated system. The customer service rep acknowledged that there are issues with the automated system. I could a small company having to accept a broken automated system but ATT is just trying to get out of helping people. Also, every time you call with any question, they are experienced an unusually high volume of calls and one must wait more than 10 minutes to speak to a representative. It can't always be unusually high, they're just hoping you'll go away. Of course, I will be going away, just as soon as my uverse contract is up.
