Poetry scam

I got a few letters from the company called famous poets and they told me i would get my poem published with them in a book and it would be entered into a contest and i only sent them $8 for the so called contest which i would geta letter later on saying that i did not win the big prize but that i got mentioned in the newsletter and that they were very proud of me. My story is like most on here yet im happy i did not go over board and send them any more money than what i did. I sent them a check and i wont do that again. I dont like them and some one told me once that every one you talk to online is a scam and a liar and i think they were right. I feel sorry for any one who falls into it but i was so happy that i felt i was getting some place in life with my writing. I love to write and it is some thing i felt i could get some where with but not the way i did it at all. They are evil people online that prey on people with dreams. I hope they get shut down and that the people get arrested for what they do one day. Every one gets theirs they say and i hope they get what they deserve real soon. There is a way to get published for real and its not on the internet at all their all liars!
