Beware of Customer Service Agents who made promises they cannot fulfill!

When my son got a new computer, I decided I should have one, too, but a refurbished one would do. Gainsaver promised excellent customer service and additional discounts if ordered within a limited time frame.

I ordered, but realized I had made a mistake, and contacted the company immediately. Since the computer was on its way to me already, I was promised a refund if I mailed it back right away. Three customer service agents, in three separate phone calls, assured me that my credit card would be refunded the full $1156.00 for the computer. I got confirmation emails that the return was received, and a confirmation email that I would receive the refund.

A month later, no refund. I telephoned again. This time, the customer service agent yelled at me, hung up on me, and told me that she would erase my account so that I would have no refund, no store credit, and I could just sue them! I was dumbfounded. I said, I am not threatening to sue, and I am not upset — I just want to work this out. I never raised my voice (the whole time I was thinking that I hope this phone call was being recorded because it was so unbelievable!), but she refused to let me speak to anyone else, and hung up the phone.

I send a letter to the president of the company after an unsuccessful attempt at resolution through a credit card dispute. The letter was returned "Return to Sender" — not sure why. Now I am out $1156.00 and I may have to take legal steps, even though I do not want to do that.

Do NOT buy from this company! Their customer service representatives either lie or threaten you — that is my experience of every one of the 5 with whom I spoke.
