At least six former contributors forHispanoSano.com, a Web-based health news service targeting U.S. Hispanics, planto sue parent company Sana Health Group Inc. For nonpayment.
Numerous attempts by six journalistsallfreelancers working under contractto collect payment for more than sevenmonths since HispanoSano published their work have yielded no resolution. Together, the freelancers are owed $15,935 representing 19 articles plus monthsof editorial work. HispanoSano.com continues to display all of the articlesonline despite having knowingly failed to pay for the content.
HispanoSano.com touts itself as a website thatbrings together content, resources, and community features to address theunique health needs of Hispanics. The company contracted freelance journalistsfrom across the U.S. And Latin America who have the special ability to reportand write in both Spanish and English. All articles covered in the lawsuitswere assigned and published by HispanoSano.com. Although the articles do notcarry bylines, each of the collaborators has documentation proving authorship.
Company founder and co-owner Jean Marie Adams, whocontracted each of the contributors, has continuously failed to make good onpromises to deliver payment.
