Scam artists! Be very cautious!

In July I used intelius to look up an old friends phone number. All of my bills are paid direct deposit so i usually don't have a reason to look at bank statements that often. However on one particular day I happened to look and I saw a debit transaction of $29.95 from VALUEMAX! I didnt think much of it because it wasn't a large amount of money, but I decided to call the phone number that was posted next to the transaction (1-888-241-0049). Upon doing so I had no clue what this company was as they asked for my member number! As I waited for a representative to answer the phone I looked back a few months on my bank statements and realized that they had been charging my account every single month!!!
When the representative answered I explained the situation to her and she told me (with a very rude attitude) that I enrolled through INTELLIUS. It had been so long ago since I had used intellius that I asked her what was that... She said i don't know but that's how you enrolled! I realized that intellius was a look up web address and I remembered using it, but I know for a fact I did not enroll in this nonsense! I told her I want my money back from you scam artists! She told me she could cancel my membership but everything that was previously charged was non-refundable. I explained to her that this was not acceptable and I demanded to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor was more friendly but he annoyed me as well because he didnt seem to understand my anger! I explained to him that I paid this fraudulent company almost $500.00 since they had been charging me $29.95 each month for over a year. He also told me the money was non-refundable but he will refund me 2 payments ($59.90)! This is not good enough!!! Someone has to put a stop to this!!! They are robbing people blind!!! They are getting away with it because many people are probably not realizing it because its not a lot of money being taken at once!
By the way intellius was not even able to help me and that was fine when all I thought I was being charge was a couple bucks... in the end it cost me almost $500.00... Just for trying to look up an old friend:- (
