AOL, AOL Credit Alert, Trilegiant Corporation
And all their 32 DBA names Unauthorized withdrawal from my bank account for $79.99 ripoff

Internet & Web

On October 24, AOL Credit Alert debited my checking account for $79.99 for a service that I did not order and that I knew nothing about. I have also never received any information either by email or U.S. Mail about this "service."

Upon discovering this the very next day (just by chance), I called the 1-800 number on my online bank statement. I spoke with a VERY rude customer service agent who maintained she could not find me in their database. After demanding to speak with a supervisor I was found in their database and given a Credit Authorization Number and told I'd receive a refund in 7-10 days.

Here I am 12 days later, no refund. So I called them again. Jessica #7675 (the ray of sunshine that she is HUH!) was extremely rude and informed me that my "Cancelation Number" was "no good." I was told that it would be ANOTHER 10-15 business days until I would be refunded.

This is FRAUD. This company does not intend on refunding money to people, and AOL is the company that gave my BRAND NEW debit card number to this affiliate of theirs. I have never used this brand new bank card to order anything online, other than my monthly AOL subscription.

My 1st advise to people would be to IMMEDIATELY go to your bank and FLAG your bank card or credit card (that you used to sign up for AOL with). They will issue you a new card. Report the FRAUD to the bank and request that the bank refund your money and press charges against AOL Credit Alert and AOL for you. Most banks will do this.

My 2nd advise to people would be to drop AOL like a hot potato. Which is exactly what I'm going to do (after 6 years). DO NOT give them your new debit or credit card number! And don't fall for their "3 Free Months" line..

Simple blocking them from your account will not work. AOL Credit Alert is actually a business called Trilegiant Corporation, who has 32 different "doing business as" names.

Here is a list of those names. (Which I got from the Better Business Bureau)
