Internet & Web

Sure I thought, work at home on the computer very little and get paid $2500-$7500 a month. Sounded too good to be true. Being out of work I was thinking about doing something like this with my wife, who is also unemployed.

In the process of scouting various opportunities on the internet and giving my name, address, phone number and e-mail to a couple sites, these scammers got ahold of my phone # and proceeded to tell me how great this offer was and I'd be foolish not to go with them on it.

After talking to me for 2 hours, I finally wore down, talked to my wife and she even thought it sounded like a good deal, which it was when you think about it.

He wanted to know how many credit cards I had and how much money I would be able to get. I foolishly told him that I only wanted to use one card that had $24,000 of available credit. That's when he said "no problem". Imagine that. Next he wanted me to sign over $20,000 to get my marketing started. I said NO WAY and told him again that I am unemployed and couldn't afford this.

Then I mentioned giving him $10,000 to get started and if everything went according to his plan and I could pay the first installment off, I'd gladly give him another 10,000. Well imagine my surprise when he agreed to this and imagine my surprise when I finally got the contract in the mail a week later and nothing he said on the phone coincided with what the contract said.

Wait, I take that back. He did say it wasn't a "get rich quick scheme" for me, but apparently it was for them. I haven't received one check from them in two months. When I finally called to find out what's going on, I was told that I'm getting a lot of visitors to my site, they're just not buying anything from me to earn a commission on. That these things "take time."

Well OK, sounded feasable. I knew it takes money to make money. I'll wait a little longer. The next day a "concerned" scam artist, I mean associate, called to say he couldn't believe all the visitors I was getting and nobody was buying anything either. So he graciously offered to hook my website up with Google for a mere $10,000 more. I said "no way" again, not until I get some kind of check from you like I was promised.

So with that being said and me not wanting to give them any more money, that was the last I heard from them. I left numerous messages and nobody called back. I wanted to call my credit card company from the start but I thought all they could tell me is " I'm sorry but you signed the money over to them, there's nothing we can do." But fortunately for me, I had two days left on my sixty day window to file a complaint with them. The account manager took all my information, which, by the way, she said I had more than anyone else who filed a complaint like mine, did.

My credit card company, Bank Of America, said they would try to get ahold of the bank the scammers used to TRY to get my money back and I didn't have to make any more payments until this is resolved. WOW! This is starting to get a load off my back. I was debt free until that fateful night.

Hopefully my story will help someone else from getting ripped off by an internet marketing company or if you have been, and it hasn't been too long or even if it has, CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY. It might not be too late for them to help you or offer some advice that you might not know. Give them as much info as you can. (i.E. Date of contract, what you were promised, phone numbers, dates you tried to contact them, people you talked to, etc.) Write everything down. Good luck.

I know that somewhere out there are good reputable companies that you can do work at home business with, but unfortunately for me, I'm never going to look for one again. I'll have to settle to wait my turn and win the lottery!
