Trying to collect on a bill and we never even heard of this company!

We got a letter from a collection agency stating that my wife owes 1148.69 to some company called "Idearc Media Superpages.com". My wife hasn't even started her business yet and we have never even heard of this company much less done any business with it or contacted it in any way. How in the world can they get away with this?
