Clickmoney.com
Takes Money without authorisation

Internet & Web

I signed up for an online offer of FREE 2 week access to Clickmoney's website for an advertised $1. This meant I had to give my credit card details. The online ad promised to deliver a CD in the mail but warned that my FREE access started immediately so I went straight to the website.

It was a pretty intensive website so I decided to put it aside for a couple of days until I could devote the time needed to read the site and understand the program. I downloaded a CD that they offered online. It was a simple version of the website.

At no time have I received any emails from the company or a CD however, 2 days after I joined, a further AUD142 (USD129) was taken from my credit card by Clickmoney unauthorized. I contacted them both by email and online chat but the operator on the online chat service (Tyrone) advised me that it was a once only lifetime membership fee to the site. What happened to the FREE trial? Wouldn't I be offered the opportunity to join up at 12-14 days in? No the presumption is by the company that if you continue to their site, you are automatically billed for the amount. It is buried somewhere in the Terms and Conditions that I never received... Like the CD!

Not only that, I now find that I am automatically joined up for a free trial with 2 other websites for a FREE trial period that will automatically begin monthly payments at the end of the fortnight and guess what, when I went to their sites to check, it is in the same format and wording as (you guessed it!) Clickmoney!

There is nowhere on either site that I looked at to cancel your subscription. You have to do that I presume by phone...

In other words, they take your money without authorization then hide behind the (non-existent or not available) Terms and Conditions. There is no way of cancelling on their websites so you're stuck! They can continue to take money until you cancel your bank account.

So beware! I have learnt the hard way! Apparently there are a lot of these type of sites appearing on the web and preying on the little guy who is honest and only wants to find a way to make some money to live! How cruel!
