Don't join the flock that got fleeced by these scammers

After receiving an unsolicited message that an old high school friend was looking for me, I signed up for what I took to be a low-cost trial membership, MyLife.com uses negative option cancellation so that once it has your credit card number, it will automatically extract $36 every three months for a very dubious service that you probably will not want, and you will not get your money back when you call to complain and cancel.

It also apparently vacuums its members' address books without their knowledge or permission so that it can spoof and sucker others to join. Its fraudulent practices appear to be many and ingenious; according to Wikipedia, the Los Angeles Better Business Bureau has received so many complaints about this company that it has given it a grade of "F."

Why is this company still in business when there are so many similar stories online about its ripoffs?
