The biggest lottery in the world? 46 million members (me included) paying about ten dollars a week? Of cause not!
One day I was approached by Freelotto telling me that I won in a "free" lottery. First week 300$. Next week 10.000$ was added and later ONE MILLION DOLLARS! So I dedicated some of my time to check it up and sent them the number of a valid credit card I never use (and in Spain where I live we can reject all unauthorized charges in 30 days) and I was requested to "confirm my identity and address" which I did, but I understood that the motive was to get my credit card and charge me for future "free" games. So no checks will be coming.
So I went on checking. The lawyers working for Freelotto are top quality and everything is - almost - waterproof. The man behind everything is Mark Hopgood, presumably living in Sevenoaks in UK (which makes any legal action in USA more complicated). Aronin is probably just what we call in Spain un hombre de paja (a strawman)
In most European countries this setup would be totally criminal (I was a lawyer for forty years) and I do not understand why the American authorities let them go on. The rules for Freelotto say that the highest award they give is 10.000$ so the ONE MILLION DOLLAR prize is pure invention and as such misleading marketing. Obviously they have never had any intention to pay anything either.
Surfing in Internet is like going out in the street. You meet all kind of people, good and bad and even some purely criminal, like this case, that do not mind robbing you. If you want to stop them charging your credit card, tell the bank, not Freelotto. It is like asking Al Capone to stop robbing! And be careful whenever you see the names Freelotto, Plasmanet, Mark Hopgood or even a similar setup. It is designed just for one reason. TO FOOL PEOPLE!
