Defend yourself against fake antivirus programs!

Antivorus 360 and antivirus 2009 have been the subjects of numerous reports on RIP OFF. Both of these use the same methods to trick unsophisticated computer users to purchase their 'produce.'

If a popup appears on your screen for either of these programs-DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET IMMEDIATELY! Do not click anywhere on the dialog box including the X to cancel the popup. If the user clicks anywhere on the popup the rogue program will install itself regardless of the user's wishes. The scans that find problems and viruses are fake. No one can scan a computer unless the user has installed legitimate software. Most of these scams originate in Russia and the people behind these frauds are impossible to prosecute. If you have been a victim contact the FTC or the FBI's cybercrimes division. Don't be a victim!
